The primary goal: Education should create independent minds:1
It should develop autonomous, thinking Individuals. Students need:
- “I” → Self-Directed Learning — autonomy & self-mastery
- Prioritizing, exploring, researching, synthesizing, generating, inner-transformation
- “It” → Critical Thinking — rational judgement
- Analyzing, logical reasoning, modeling
- “We” → Interpersonal Fluency — the full art of understanding & reaching people
- Rhetoric (reaching people through language) & Relationships (cultural and personal)
- “Its” → Systems Thinking — understanding & shaping interdependence
- Modeling complex systems/structure & second-order feedback/consequences
How to create independent minds?
- Strategy: Create a new system based-off Self-Directed Learning
- Environment: Supporting External Structures for Self-Directed Learning
The problem with Modern Education: Modern Education is Addiction
It structurally discourages independent learning and thought. Most people choose standard education because Fear creates consensus.
