Topics: Learning & Education Calm Productivity Self-Directed Learning

Guiding structure and metrics-based accountability help keep us on track ( Sunshine aids growth), but internal scorekeeping it what propels us forward sustainably. Inspiration, excitement, energy levels, and others are the inputs to the internal scorecard. Track these metrics for making decisions, and you’ll create virtuous, 2nd order cycles. When you measure motivation, you increase motivation. If you track inspiration, you’ll become more inspired.

Internal scorekeeping helps us stay in the ‘being’ state and not diverge too much into ‘doing’ (Being beats winning). The being should inform the doing. Internal score over external score. Externally imposed metrics turn you into a robot; internally imposed metrics create masters. You want expertise, not an ‘A’.

Improved Learning & Education, therefore, would consider your internal scorecard: what are you interested in exploring that is also sufficiently challenging enough excite you? (easy tasks are boring). In other words, Learning should be self-directed.
